Little League Information


2024 Capital Region Little League (CRLL)

 

Divisions offered for 2024:

  • Majors (U13)
  • Juniors (U15)
  • Senior (U17)

Registration and League Play:

  • Majors and Juniors:
    • Little League Regular Season will run from May through June and will be scheduled by the Greater Edmonton Minor Softball Association (GEMSA)
    • All Majors and Juniors teams registered with GEMSA will be automatically registered with CRLL.
    • GEMSA will provide all diamonds and umpires, included in the registration fee.
    • For the purpose of Tournament Play eligibility, all GEMSA games played are Little League regular season games.
    • Any teams who are not registered with GEMSA may register with CRLL directly. Details will be posted to the CRLL Facebook page. Teams wishing to register direct will be responsible for providing diamonds, umpires, and equipment for all home games scheduled by CRLL.
    • Any players wishing to register without a team will be directed to their nearest softball association to be placed on a team. Registration deadlines are set by each association.
  • Seniors:
    • Any Seniors age team wishing to register with CRLL will do so directly. Details will be posted to the CRLL Facebook page.

Tournament Teams:

  • CRLL is eligible to enter one Tournament Team from each division (Majors, Junior, Senior).
  • Player eligibility for Tournament Play varies by age category. Details are in the LL Rule Book: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/
    • In summary: Majors and Juniors players become eligible for selection to the Tournament Team by playing in at least 8 regular season Little League games. There is no minimum games requirement for Senior division.  
  • Applications to coach any of the 3 tournament teams (Majors, Junior, Senior) will be received by the League Board. Tournament Team coaches MUST be regular season coaches to be eligible for selection. 
  • The Board will select up to 3 coaches for each team. 
  • If there are more than 14 eligible players from the Majors, Junior, or Senior divisions electing to play on the Tournament Team, a try-out will be scheduled.
  • Coaches will select players to their respective Tournament Teams. Rosters will be approved by the CRLL board in accordance with Little League International guidelines.
  • Once selected to a Tournament Team, players are responsible to pay their equal share of the following fees, plus GST:
    • $500 Tournament Entry Fee,
    • Tournament Advancing Fee Division - $600
    • Tournament Advancing Fee Regional - $1,800
    • Regional Tournament Support Fee - $1,600
    • and purchase a Tournament Team jersey for $25.
  • If the team does not advance to the Canada Region Championships, the applicable fees are refunded.
  • If non-parent coaches are selected, additional costs will be assessed to each player on the tournament team to cover expenses.
  • The Tournament Team will participate in the Alberta Divisional Championship.
    • Date and location to be determined. 
    • Hosting opportunities may be available. 
    • No travel allowance provided. Teams are on their own for travel and accommodations for the Alberta Divisional Championship.
  • If they win, they will advance to the Canada Region Championship.
    • Players and coaches are provided travel from Calgary to the site of the Canadian Region Championships. Players and coaches are responsible for their own accommodations. 
  • If they win, they will advance to the World Series.
    • All travel and accommodations are paid by Little League International for all players and coaches. (Parents are on their own).

    • Selection of Tournament Team roster: To be determined based on Divisional playdown schedule.
    • 2024 Alberta Divisional Playdowns - completed no later than July 21, 2024
    • 2024 Canadian Region Championships: July 24 - 28, 2024 - Charlemagne, QC
    • 2024 Little League Softball World Series - August 4-11, 2024 - Greenville, North Carolina 
  • Juniors
    • Deadline for Tournament Team coach applications: To be determined based on Divisional playdown schedule
    • Selection of Tournament Team roster: To be determined based on Divisional playdown schedule.
    • 2024 Alberta Divisional Playdowns - completed no later than July 15, 2024
    • 2024 Canadian Region Championships: July 18 - 22, 2024 - Charlemagne, QC (Note: Conflict with Softball Alberta U15A/B Provincials. Players competing in Softball Alberta Provincials will be ineligible for selection to the CRLL Tournament Team)
    • 2024 Junior League Softball World Series - July 28 to August 3, 2024 - Kirkland, Washington 
  • Seniors
    • Deadline for Tournament Team coach applications: To be determined based on Divisional playdown schedule
    • Selection of Tournament Team roster: To be determined based on Divisional playdown schedule.
    • 2024 Alberta Divisional Playdowns - completed no later than July 16, 2024
    • 2024 Canadian Region Championships: July 19 - 24, 2024 - Charlemagne, QC
    • 2024 Senior League Softball World Series - July 29 - August 4, 2024 - Lower Sussex, Delaware
